promiscuous endorsements

Rapper endorsements is not something new, this post is quite tired for several reasons but I just found this to be a peak of a lot of trends. First of all, it’s a behind the scenes video from the shooting of a commercial that I found on Hypebeast which is a popular culture/street wear blog that keeps its ears to the street.

Behind the scenes documentaries are now a natural part of commercials and there are many examples of this, the commercial is slowly becoming popular culture. But the rapper Young Jeezy, I can’t really make out why he’s identifying with this vodka brand. Belvedere vodka ran a campaign called Luxury Reborn two years ago with Vincent Gallo and Terry Richardson being arty and intoxicated together and that at least made some sort of sense. But this new campaign America Reborn just feels to contrived and opportunistic trying to link the vodka with Barack Obama’s presidency. Throwing blue, red and white confetti around and waving the star spangled banner like a helicopter. And the rapper, Young Jeezy says that he identifies completely with this, with what, with Barack Obama or the vodka?

Ahhh…I shouldn’t write about it, but since I have somewhat of a forum to do it in I though I just might, pardon me.
